Measure Your Kitchen
First you want to make a rough drawing of the shape of the room. Represent each of the walls. Be sure to mark where doors, and windows belong.
Measure from the ceiling to the floor.
Measure each wall section and record the length on the drawing you made. (A wall section is from one corner to a door way or window or another wall.)
Measure each door and window; It is important to indicate in which direction each door swings.
Use painters tape to mark the locations of where the appliances will go, be sure to record the dimensions of each appliance. Start by measuring the Width, Height, and Depth of the appliance.
It is important that you also mark on your sketch exact locations of the sink, water and gas lines. Also, be sure to measure to the center of each and not the edge.
Add up all your dimensions from each wall. Then you should verify that the total is equal to the total wall dimension listed on the chart. (If it isn’t, re-measure!) Double check your work. If these measurements are not correct then it will be difficult to make your appliances fit in the space.
